Shuhari Japan is looking to raise money for the chance to be able to show off the amazing world of traditional Japanese martial arts and dance to those all over the world.
This time after coming back from the Japan Tours Festival 2019 held in February 2019, which was host to around 20000 guests. The performance at the event led to the organisers asking for the group to come back in 2020.
With this opportunity to show off parts of Japanese traditional culture to a whole range of people and letting everyone discover new sides to Japanese culture, it would be a huge missed opportunity to turn it down. We want to raise money to help pay for materials, and travel costs for us to be able to head to France to perform! By showing off the group at peak condition, we can maximise the enjoyment and engagement of the viewers.
We hope you can help us reach our goal!

2019.11.11 All Or Nothing,

I was born in Kyoto, grew up in a Kimono shop, and learnt piano and traditional Japanese dance, eventually going on to musicals in my 20s.
Because of this, I experienced a range of things, such as singing, fighting in action scenes, stage combat, and dance.
After getting the chance to return back to Kyoto, I started up with fencing and then with a longing to learn traditional fight styles, I finally returned to traditional Japanese dance.
While working on various lodgings in Kyoto, I also practiced these traditional styles.
In 2013, I created the group SHUHARI JAPAN in Tokyo. After creating the Kyoto Branch, the members looked at practicing and performing traditional martial arts and dances in order to create performances that guests can watch and feel a connection to Japanese traditions and past.
In February 2019 we took the group to France in order to participate in JAPAN TOURS FESTIVAL 2019 an event which brings in over 20,000 guests. From the success of this participation, we were invited to the 2020 Event.

We participated in Japan Tours Festival 2019, and the people that came to watch praised the show very highly!
The organisers and participants were pleased by the swordsmanship and sword fighting, with a quick workshop being available. We were invited to participate in Japan Tours Festival 2020.

This time, Shuhari Japan are looking to participate, but at the current time, it looks more and more impossible. With the amount of fees such as travel fares and baggage costs, as well as training on location costs, many people have had to unfortunately drop out of participating.

However, even if you have risen to a level where you are invited to perform due to your talents, it is still necessary to feed your family, to work and so on, making it hard also to participate due to the scheduling. With all this though, it is extremely important to work on training, to push for the ultimate performance for not just your self but your team, and coming together and doing these types of performances are key.

Right now, our main goal is to practice and concentrate on getting to peak shape so we can make our performance the best it can be! By doing so, we can show off to the world with pride, our techniques, our art and become a great representative for Japan.
With that in mind, we need to bring together those that are able to help support and back us and watch as our team grows! This was the main idea behind creating this project!
I think that it is extremely important for the future of these traditional martial arts to use the current professionals as a starting point to create further activities that will help broaden those that have even just a small interest in them.
As we have the fortunate opportunity of being invited, we can use the chance to help teach those that wish to learn more about Japanese cultures about the many points of our culture that we are proud of!
This chance is a massive reason for me to create this project, in order to help those amazing artist that can't participate be able to come and show off the amazing parts of traditional Japanese martial arts!

The main idea is to bring performers from our group Shuhari Japan (presided over by Hiroyuki Kishida) to the Japan Tours Festival being held on February 28th - March 1st. The hope is to bring performers who are masters of traditional Japanese martial arts and dance, to France and show off the pride of Japanese culture to over 20,000 visitors to the festival.

Performances and participants include shamisen, swordsmanship, Iaido, Japanese dance, Japanese paper craft, silk dyeing, kimono, Japanese dance, and Japanese sweets.

We depart Japan, with the intention of letting people who have a background in Japanese traditional culture to teach others about it and show them how to enjoy martial arts correctly (demonstration).
Inviting wonderful traditional martial artists and performer from outside of Shuhari Japan, strongly emphasizes our intention to help introduce various Japanese cultures not only to France but also to the whole world.
At the same time, we want to create a platform for our own announcements, so that everyone can get to know us, and we will work hard every day to become a fitting representative of Japan.

Daily practice is important! It's a thing that must go on at a steady pace, but without practicing the art is slowly lost so practice is a must. We can see the breathtaking beauty, courage, skill and delicacy born from this practice, and it allows us to let the local people experience it. By proactively practicing and performing, we continue to have the opportunity to reach new people and show how important Japanese traditions are and that they must be passed on.

In France, Taiwan, the UK, China, the United States, and so on, we have the opportunity to interact with and respect each other's people and cultures, as well as take pride in Japan and it's culture! I want to show people how amazing Japan and it's culture, past and present, is.

The main reasons for introducing Shuhari Japan to Taiwan and Britain are mainly due to connections that we have at the moment.
Our team consists of performers that live or have lived in Taiwan or the UK. We want to be able to expand this relationship as we move forward.
The choreographer in the UK also participated in the massive Japan Fes!
In addition to this, I have been asked from movie creators in LA to help with the creation of some films.
With each connection and relationship, I value each extremely highly as they all help the group and myself to grow into a better being. It also allows to show of the amazing points of Japan!
By learning new things and applying it, we can grow not just body but also mind. That's why I think that meeting people from all walks of life is extremely important!
I hope I am able to meet a various of people when we go to participate in Japan Tours Festival 2020!

This is how we plan to continue from now on:
① From September 2019 to February 20th 2020 negotiations and practice with those outside of Shuhari Japan
